Update: Smart Gilas showed that they are really capable of representing the Philippines after devastating the less prepared Team Powerade Pilipinas, 98-69 at the Araneta Coliseum. It’s only in the early goings of the first quarter that Powerade led on the game. But at the end of the first canto, the younger Gilas snatched the lead and never looked back since then.

The twin towers, CJ Giles and Japeth Aguilar really made a big difference both in scoring and rebounding.

Team Powerade Pilipinas and Smart Gilas will be colliding today, October 5 at 7PM, in a match intended for the victims of the recent tropical storm Ondoy.

This much anticipated battle between the two national teams can be watched right after the 5PM game between the NCAA and UAAP selections and the Philippine Basketball League (PBL)/Liga Pilipinas squad at the Araneta Coliseum.

For coach Yeng Guiao there’s no giving way saying that “Kapag nandiyan na iyan laban na yan. Alam naman natin na walang magbibigay d’yan eh.”

On the other hand, Serbian coach Rajko Toroman uttered that “It’s only an exhibition game, but it comes down to everybody wants to win. We want to be competitive against a great team”.
